Scope of Work

First Place Winner of the 2017 BIA Building Excellence Award for Residential Remodel $100,000 - $200,000

The layout on this 1973 home was very compartmentalized. The living room and kitchen were divided by a large brick fireplace which made the room a challenge. The overall goal of this remodeled space was to integrate the kitchen to the rest of the home for better flow so the empty nester homeowner could entertain with ease and upgrade to commercial appliances.

Location

— Portland, Oregon

Challenges

— Creative measures had to be taken just to get the oversized, Sub-Zero Refrigerator in place because of the low ceiling height.

Solutions

  • Refinished hardwood floors throughout the home
  • Removed dated wainscoting and retextured all of the walls
  • Added new skylights above the oversized island provide more natural light and help combat the home’s low, 8-foot, ceilings
  • Upgraded the appliance package to a commercial-grade kitchen with Sub-Zero Refrigerator
