The Good Neighbor Center provides safe, emergency housing with supporting services for families, which can be critically meaningful to children. Before, there was no adequate space for the children’s program. It was housed in the multipurpose room which was also where donations were sorted and stored. Since it was noisy, in constant use, and not ideal for a dynamic learning environment, it was time to add on.
The new, 375 sq. ft. addition includes a dedicated classroom complete with California Closet cabinets to store school supplies, books, and equipment to serve the children in our area.
This past Wednesday, we gathered together to celebrate the completion of the project.
“It’s a busy season!” said Robert Wood, President and Owner of Mountainwood Homes. “The building industry is booming, but we still have our trade partners come and say, ‘Hey, we want to be a part of this.’”
While our team served as the Builder Captain, there were over 20 vendors that came together to bring the space to life. We want to thank all trade partners, suppliers and supporters who were involved in the project. The City of Tigard was great to work with and helped keep it a smooth building process.
We are happy to report that the Good Neighbor Center addition in Tigard came in on time and under budget – two of our favorite things!
It’s a special thing to be involved in projects in our community that will leave a legacy. We hope the new addition helps build a positive foundation for the children and staff at the Good Neighbor Center so they can continue to do great things.
