kitchen remodel ideas

It’s back to school time, and we’re not sure who is more excited – the parents or the kids? While memories of summer vacations, family BBQs and sunshine may become a distant memory, there is something exciting about getting back into your normal routine.

Now is the perfect time to evaluate how your home functions for you and your family. As the rain will soon roll in, you may start to feel that your kitchen layout feels cramped with the neighbor kids gathered around the island for an afternoon snack, that the warn carpet would look better as hardwoods, or that your master bathroom does not function for your early morning routine.

In this Northeast Portland remodel we like to call the “form and function” kitchen, the reconfigured space allows for a a pocket office and mudroom off of the kitchen.  The pocket office adds for convenient organization especially for this busy family. We increased built-in cabinet storage so everything has a place. We even built out a Mud Room as a transitional room into the Kitchen from outside. Muddy boots, wet jackets and heavy backpacks have a home to keep your family and your home organized for fall.

Here are some kitchen remodeling ideas:

Mud Room off of the kitchen allows for easy organization.
Coats, boots, shoes and bags have a landing spot when you come inside.
Built-in storage in the mudroom keeps things out of sight.

The Pocket Office off of the Kitchen becomes the command center for the house.
