After living in their charming Southeast Portland family home for many years, our homeowners noticed their older appliances and cabinetry were starting to break down in the well-loved kitchen. They wanted a new kitchen that fit the style and character of their 1931 home but featured modern conveniences, efficient appliances, functional cabinetry and lighting. The style and period of home were the jumping off points for the design aesthetic of the kitchen, and the beautiful arched window with apron-front sink remains the focal point of the space. While the footprint did not drastically change, we utilized the area better. The space is truly the heart of the home with archways leading to the rest of the home. The client’s love of sage green was reflected in the beveled, glass backsplash against the beautiful quartzite countertops.
