15 Valuable Lessons After 15 Years

Mountainwood Homes hit a significant milestone.

Our company celebrated 15 years in business.

Here are 15 lessons we’ve learned in our journey to that milestone.

Here are 15 lessons that we know to be true:

  1. If you’re going to work, you should be doing something you enjoy.

  2. Hire the right people – good people who share the same philosophy and work ethic. You can train on everything else.

  3. Life is a team sport. If you’re going to do great things, it’s more fun to do it with your team.

  4. Trust your gut; you’ll be surprised about how accurate it is about everything but food.

  5. Do what you say you’re going to do, always.

  6. We are in the customer service business. Getting along with people is essential.

  7. Momentum can take you places you’ve never been – either up or down.

  8. When you communicate well, the problem is insignificant. Also, realize that people care more about what you do than what you say.

  9. Provide opportunities to be inspired; field trips, trade conferences, and job site visits give a fresh perspective.

  10. The small stuff does matter, and details are important.

  11. Serve others in the community and in your business to help them succeed.

  12. Show that you care; it’s essential to retain exceptional teammates and clients.

  13. Don’t settle for mediocre. Push to be the very best you can be.

  14. Don’t give your time and products away; your expertise is valuable.

  15. Be grateful every day.

It’s been an incredible journey over the past 15 years. We are grateful for what it has brought us, the people we’ve met, and the people we’ve helped. It’s been fun to see the fabric and tree of connections continue to grow. You never know what one connection can do.

“And it’s okay to let them see you cry,” Robert added. “Big boys DO cry.”
