This week, the Mountainwood Homes team volunteered at the Sunshine Division at their Wilsonville Fulfillment Center to pack food into boxes for distribution in our community.
What we accomplished
During our 2-hour volunteer event, 40 Mountainwood Homes teammates came together to:
- Build 1250 emergency food boxes for families in need throughout the Portland community.
- Each box contains 13 different food items, including shelf-stable food with additional beverages and snacks.
- Packed approximately 25,000 lbs. of food into these 1250 food boxes
- Taped and stacked 700 boxes for our food box assembly line.
Demand for food is high
The demand for food in the community has never been higher. The two biggest needs right now are food donations and volunteer groups like Mountainwood. Food donations can be one of the easiest ways for an organization to help reach our goals of helping families in need. They are always looking for groups or organizations to host a food drive for the Sunshine Division.
In just under 2 hours, we made a direct impact in helping almost 2000 families get access to food.
We love getting our team together to help various organizations like The Sunshine Division. We appreciate the opportunity for our large group to show up, get to work, and immediately see the impact. It was also great to hear more about the important work The Sunshine Division is doing in our backyard.
Volunteer with the Sunshine Division
Since the company started in 2008, Mountainwood has been committed to being a community builder. We love to find ways to utilize the talents of our team and network of trade partners to leave positive, lasting contributions to the neighborhoods where we live and work. For anyone looking to organize a food drive or a group volunteer event with the Sunshine Division, reach out to Martin Finerty, Fulfillment Operations Floor Manager, at [email protected] or directly sign up to host a food drive. We highly recommend it!
