First, you need to have a lot to build on. If you have not identified a property yet, bring us in to consult. It is important to get builder input on the feasibility of the lot before you purchase it.
2. Plan
Whether you already have a plan or need to create one, it is a collaborative process to ensure that your plan fits your needs and budget.
3. Price
We price each house independently depending on the size and specifications of the home as well as the land conditions. You’ll find that we provide the overall best value for your money because of our expertise, high standards, and process.
4. Design
Professional interior design and space planning is included. Our award-winning designers help bring all the details together, so your home turns out how you envision. There are many decisions to make, and our expert guidance makes the process as simple as possible.
5. Build
Watch your home come to life. Our experienced Project Managers coordinate with skilled trade partners who are the best in their respective fields. We use only the most dependable, high-quality building materials. Your new custom home will be built to last.
6. Live!

We build custom homes all over the Portland metropolitan area from Vancouver and Camas, Washington down to the Woodburn area. Currently, we are not building in Salem, on the Oregon Coast, or in Central Oregon.
We don’t have a one-size-fits-all model. There are too many variables to talk about that will affect the cost-per-square-foot number such as amenity levels, lot conditions, or permit costs. These factors can be big numbers that add to the cost of construction. We will work with you to understand what investment level you need to be at so we can design to your budget. A typical range is in the $450-550 per square foot range. At Mountainwood Homes, our typical home starts at $1.2M (home only).
We can connect you to real estate agents that specialize in finding land. They have search tools and access to listings that you have not seen before. There are lots all over the Portland metro area. A real estate agent can help you find one that meets your needs, price point, and lifestyle you want to live.
A typical new home can be built in 6-9 months, but there are many steps before we start construction. The process of securing land, obtaining permits, and getting approvals can take time, so start now. We recommend engaging with our team as soon as possible no matter where you are in the home building process.
